I think this site misses the point - unfolding a newspaper is also a standard behavior, and newspapers can be folded a number of different ways. The point of “above the fold” is to build a design that makes people want to scroll / unfold / explore more. While the location of the pagefold on a website is not always predictable, it is fairly predictable for a large percentage of the population. Some newspapers are rolled, tri-folded, etc, but the average newspaper is folded in half.
