My wireless home
Installing Apple iTunes on our home and studio computers and centralising our music library got me thinking about what other connected appliances there might be around my home in the future. So let's jump forward another few years...
Over the weekend, I installed iTunes on all the computers in the design studio and centralised our entire CD collection on the server. I hooked up a wireless access point to the network and added a wireless card to (my twelve year old son) Alex's PC in his bedroom and one in my tablet PC.
It got me thinking about what other connected appliances there might be around my home in the future. So let's jump forward another few years...
Endless gadget chatter
- My iHairbrush talks to the bathroom cabinet which adds anti-dandruff shampoo to my weekly Tesco order.
- I open the fridge to find nothing but salad. It's because my bathroom iScales have told it that I'm putting on a bit too much weight.
- The microwave oven reads the bar-code on a frozen pizza and refuses to cook, all because my iWatch has grassed me up about my blood pressure being too high.
Isn't technology going to be a wonderful thing?
